WINDOW TO THE DIVINE St. John Paul II, Redemptive Art, and the Improbable Journey of a Catholic Artist by Jeremy Stanbary, Founder of Open Window Theatre

Description: St. John Paul II, the first-ever "playwright pope," risked his life to start an underground theater during the Nazi Occupation of Poland in WWII. Why would this promising young man put his life on the line to produce and perform theater as the world fell apart around him? Catholic actor and playwright, Jeremy Stanbary, unpacks this fascinating question and shares how John Paul's vision for the arts has taken him and his wife around the world over the past 20 years, eventually leading them to start one of the fastest growing professional theaters in the Twin Cities.

Bio: Jeremy holds a BA in Fine & Performing Arts with 20+ years experience producing and performing theater professionally while advancing his uniquely redemptive vision for the arts. In 2003, Jeremy began touring full-time with his original one-man and small-cast dramas. For the next 8-years, he performed for tens of thousands of people both nationally and internationally, reaching countless others via cable television. In 2011, Jeremy and his wife Sarah founded Open Window Theatre, which has become a staple of the nationally-recognized Twin Cities arts scene. Jeremy also has over 10-years of active experience in theater education for youth, developing and growing the E-Rhapsody Youth Theater program between 2007-2016. The legacy of the E-Rhapsody program lives on now as the Young Actors Academy program at Open Window Theatre.
